Remember the tricycle? How could you forget ...
Well she is now in bits and the frame has been for a facelift
I chose 'Alpine Blue' - a bit like the previous colour but paler and a bit more sophisticated, I think.
It looks quite weird without the wheels and such (before you say it ... yes, I know it looks quite weird with them too!)
and then a bit of elbow grease is required (as well CRC, scrapers and wire brushes) - this is the 'before' picture
These are a few of the essentials for this kind of work - surgical gloves, rags and plenty of tea!
and then ... here is one I prepared earlier, as they say - this is the 'after' picture
So I have spent the weekend up to my elbows in grease and rust ... but I'm pretty happy with the result.
Watch this space for the next instalment ... dum dum dum!
You hide behind the stylish frocks & sexy shoes but deep down I can tell you're a bicycle fanatic. You're not fooling anyone Unity ;^)
ReplyDeleteHi, when's the next tricycle update?
ReplyDeleteCan I ask how much the repaint cost from T White's? I've just become the proud owner of a beautiful cruiser but she's a wee bit rusty for my tastes and needs to be restored to her former glory! Even if it's just a kind of ballpark figure (will I be looking at $100.00 ... $300.00... etc) that'd be really helpful. Otherwise dad has offered his assistance with a spray can but that is most definitely my last resort!
ReplyDelete@ Paul - soon, battling with a headset decision ATM!
ReplyDelete@ T - not sure really as I paid for it amongst other things and it also depends on things like whether you have sparkles in it (I did) but I think under $200 at a guess. Give Tim a call, he'll be able to give you a better idea.
