Spring Celebration of Cycling - RAINING ... NO, I MEAN REALLY RAINING!!

So it was time for the parade ...

We rode stylishly out of Western Park ...

Everybody enjoying the moment - there's something about a mass ride that is hard to explain. We got to the furthest part of our parade and as we turned around we saw the filthiest black cloud you've ever seen! And then ...

It rained ..

well 'rained' is something of an understatement ...

It just threw it down ... you could barely see the Frock on front of you ...

But luckily Frocks are not made of sugar, and we smiled and waved as if nothing had happened

Back at Western Park, some took comfort in another sausage sizzle

... some were mortified to find out they were wearing the same rain gear - what a fashion faux pas!

But the sun came out again and as that ad on TV says "girls look good wet"!

p.s. shamefully, I have to admit to seeking shelter in a nearby Adshel (and those of you who wait for buses in these things, will understand the irony of seeking shelter in one of the worlds most useless bus shelter!). I was not alone!

In my defence, someone had kindly 'blinged' my bicycle with red streamers that released copious amounts of red die on to my clothing as soon as the rain started. For a few moments, I thought there had been a terrible accident! But after a little judicious streamer removal, I was good to go!

Looking forward to next year ... mark the date in your calendar!!!

Photos kindly supplied by Rod Haag (I was hiding in that bus shelter I told you about!)

Spring Celebration of Cycling - STILL SUNNY ... JUST

It was definitely the place to be ...

Our number one 'groupie' (Pippa's fella) joined in the fun

Some fabulous ladies in fabulous shoes ...

and fabulous shorts ...

and fabulous leggings ...

... flocked, glittered, and wowed the passers by

Frocks are very talented - this 'Frock' made the amazing bunting behind her ... all hand stitched!!

this Frock is obviously working the 'cool chick talking on her mobile' thing.

and this Frock has definitely mastered the 'coordinating with your bike' thing

So, all that was left was the parade ... and the clouds gathered and darkened...

Spring Celebration of Cycling - BRIGHT!

Groups and clusters arrived together or coagulated in Western Park.

Bright smiles could be seen everywhere ...

These two were wearing the same brooch so they met up to congratulate each other on their excellent taste!

Groups of Frocks flocked and chatted

The boys also flocked and chatted under the pretence of fixing bikes ... it's a guy thing!

Families and friends enjoyed a good 'catch up'

and balloons were tightly grasped ... a few were lost and went barrelling into the distance. Wind! What wind?

Dogs and owners smiled at the goings on ...

obviously very interested in these frolicking frocks

Bikes were decorated with balloons ...

and streamers

and tape

and the sun stayed out ...

Spring Celebration of Cycling - RAINING ... MEN!

The Frocks were positively drenched in gorgeous well dressed men ...

they arrived in droves!

wearing jackets

... shades

... jerseys

... hats

or ties!

Innate style ...

shiny rims and cool T-shirts

suits ...

and SUITS!! ... were the order of the day

If you've got it, you've got it ... as they say!

Spring Celebration of Cycling - SUNNY!

YES ... even with weather that was unpredictable at best and revolting at worst, the Frocks arrived ...

REDy for anything

Cool and collected ...

and totally in the PINK

Coordinated with balloons ...

and even with building signage!

with children

and with shadows ...

proof that it was, if only briefly, ... SUNNY!

Spring Celebration of Cycling - WINDY!

It was touch and go whether our Spring Celebration of Cycling would happen due to a storm the size of Australia!

But Frocks are made of pretty stern stuff, so ...

The guys helped wrestled the banners and bunting into place

reinforcing was required, and applied

unconventional rain protection was introduced as passing downpours threatened our signage

but the sausage sizzle burst into production

and photographers arrived ... although they seemed a little bemused

the bling your bike stand opened for business

and Tumeke Cycle Space was ready for 'bike fixing' action

... but would the Frock flock turn up?
