If this is
possible in New York city, why can't we do it in Auckland. Queen Street would be perfect for this - imagine strolling between pavement cafes, listening to the buskers and browsing the shops on both sides of the street without fear of being sideswiped by a kamikaze bus driver or deafened by a muscle car vibrating to it's stereo output.
Really jealous of New Yorkers. If the idea were to be proposed, will be met by usual lot of excuses: too hard, too inconvenient, too expensive, et al.
ReplyDeleteI assume you're aware that this sort of thing happened in the Netherlands 20 years and more ago. The city I now live in was transformed like this. Groningen made extensive changes right across the city.
